Today you go to a doctors office and you see mainly women as the nurses and the people behind the desk when you check in and you see men as the actual doctors walking around. Why is this? Why can it not be the other way around? Why are there not as many women doctors in the world today as there are men doctors? It is not that women are not smart enough to be a doctor. Women are just as smart as men are. So why do we not see women in a doctors office as often as we see men?
It does not matter what kind of doctor you go to, it could be at the dentist, or a cardio doctor, even if you go to the "girl" doctor (the OBGYN) you still see mainly all male doctors. Even at places like the OBGYN where you would think women would be more comfortable with other women examining them instead of men you still see almost all male doctors. Why is it as women going to have our womanly parts examained we still feel better if a man is doing the examaining? Instead of picking a doctor who has the exact same body parts as us we pick the one who has completely different ones. You would think that a doctor who has the same body parts as you would know what you are going through and can relate a little bit more to you and your body and yet as women we still are more likely to choose a male doctor for these body parts.
When it comes to our health we would rahter put our life in the hands of a male no matter what kind of doctor we are seeing. Even if you step into an emergency room for some reason, when you look around you see the women doing the behind the desk jobs or being the nurses and you see the males mostly being the actual doctors. Even when you talk about a doctors office or going to the doctor you picture that doctors office in your head as the women being the nurses and being there behind the window to check you in and to check you out and you picture the males in the doctors office as being the doctor you're going to be seeing. Why is this? Why do we as humans stereotype a doctors office or a hospital this way? Why can we not envision women being the doctors and then men doing the nursing jobs or the behind the desk, paper work jobs? Even after women have fought so hard to even be able to get in to medical school, we still see more males than women in the medical field.
